::Summer Reading List::
Now this list is extremely optimistic. I realize I have a few extra thick ones in the mix, so in reality I know I won't get through all these... but I like to think that I could. But the first one is required, and since I'm reading it right now, I know I'll finish it before the end of summer... Actually, I know I'll finish the first three, it's the rest I'm unsure of.

# 4 & 5 should go pretty quick (2 of my favorties!)but if you start on 8 be prepared for a bit of a long ride. I remember that one being a slow read. Such a heart wrenching story that at times it's hard to get through.
ReplyDeleteYep, #8 has been on my reading list for a very long time now. I try to mix the long sad ones up with short happy ones. I can tell #1 and #3 are going to take a long time getting through too. I've liked the Pickwick Papers so far, but it hasn't grabbed me yet. It really does lack a plot and I've no idea where we're going.

ReplyDeleteHmm, I think I should have read the other book list posts before I made mine, you have some books I've been meaning to get too or haven't even heard of that look good!
I have tried the Pickwick papers, I couldn't get past the first couple chapters. Me and Dickon's writing style just DO not get along! We've run a chap over with our carriage, time for bread and milk..... ;-)
I doubt I'll actually read all those this summer. That's just a small fraction of my reading list from the library.
ReplyDeleteI'm hit or miss with Mr. Dickens. I loved The Old Curiosity Shop and A Christmas Carol, (I read it every Christmas.) And I like A Tale of Two Cities, although... I think I remember a carriage fatality in that one. But I hated Great Expectations. I didn't like it when I read it in high school, and I didn't like in college either... and I doubt I'd like it now. There's just not one single person I like in that novel. They all deserve their fate.
I read "Up From Slavery" my Junior year, and I loved it! It's been several years now, but I still remember how great it was!
