AHHHHH!!!!! I've been busy! And when I get busy, my poor blog is left all alone. But to catch up, here's the past two weeks in a nutshell:
The other designer Fawn that I work with at NW Media quit. She's getting married this summer and wanted to venture out into the brave new world and start freelancing. But that left me very very busy at work for a few weeks with job interviews and double the work load. And of course we had to start a ton of new projects that same week, as well as five full designs. After seven interviews and reading over 100 applications, we hired Mary, a very nice designer and a fun crafter as well. Things are finally settling and slowing down there... sigh...
The weekend before last was Compassion Rockwood, the big event. It's a free medical clinic where I've been volunteering for the past three years, designing logos, brochures, posters, fliers, headers, shirts, and taking pictures. Most of the my work had been finished before the event, some nearly. And so at the actual event I just got to wear the black Public Relations shirt and take event photos.
Dave, Trina, Linda Beth and I, also started a garden at the apartments the weekend before last. We spent Sunday morning weeding and cleaning it out. And Sunday afternoon, my dad came over and roadatilled for us. That night we started planting the seeds and starts and finished it up Monday night after work. We planted Oregon Giant Peas, green beans, Butter Crunch and leaf lettuce, spinach, a few carrots, zucchini, butternut squash, beets, basil, chives, regular and wild strawberries, onions, cucumbers, lemon cucumbers, and a variety of heirloom tomatoes. I'm very excited to watch them grow!
I've been watched a lot of LOST last week as well. I'm all caught up now, but I end up laying awake at night thinking... "Why is Clair and Christian in the cabin? Is everyone dead? What is the smoke monster? Why doesn't Richard age?" And much more. I need to remember perspective...
I also dug out this old 20's shirt from my grandma's old box of clothes and replaced the buttons on it so it's wearable again.
I also bought these two new summer sweaters and some new socks from lovely Sock Dreams. Ah, how I love new socks.
And I've been practicing the accordion a lot lately. Now that the weather is warmer I can turn the fan on while I play to mask the noise. And I'm playing much longer than before. It used to be that I could play every song I knew once, go though the whole book and learn a new song. But now I know way too many songs to play them all at once. I'm about halfway through Palmer Hughes Book 2. I'm learning much harder songs and I can practice two new songs at a time.
Last weekend was Mother's Day, and I spent Saturday night with my folks. We went to hear Luis Palau speak, I'd forgotten how much I like him. And then we went and picked Grandma up and went out to dinner. Sunday morning, we drove Grandma down to my uncle's church in Salem for a Mother's Day brunch. It was very nice. And then me and my mom went to a nursery and I found the beautiful hanging basket for twenty bucks. I just love how it looks on my front porch.
And well... besides the usual spring cleaning, cooking, tea, rain, knitting, and other stuff I usually do. That pretty much sums up the past two weeks.

I'd like to see a photo of your hanging basket too...
It was too dark to take a picture when I posted this last night. But I'll post one tonight when I have a chance.
